Why a mixed class needs the scoping
A driving school rarely teaches one licence class at a time. A car learner and a motorcycle learner sitting side by side are studying for the same rules of the road and the same road signs — those two sections are identical whatever they are learning to drive — but the vehicle-controls section is not, and that difference is written into the regulations rather than into this product's design.
Left unscoped, a motorcycle learner working through controls practice would be shown items that describe a car's cabin — a rear-view mirror mounted where a motorcycle has none, a demister, a handbrake between two seats. None of it is wrong information; all of it is the wrong vehicle. It teaches nothing they can use, and it wastes the study time they have before their test.
K53 Coach avoids that by tying controls practice, the controls library and the mock paper to the licence class each learner selects for their own account — a car (Code B), a motorcycle (Code A) or a heavy vehicle (Code C). A school running all three at once does not have to manage that split itself; each learner's own account keeps their controls content to their own class automatically. Rules and road signs stay one shared pool for everybody, because that is how the test itself treats them.
One thing worth knowing if a learner starts on the wrong class by mistake: once they have paid and chosen a licence class, that choice is locked — it protects the accuracy of their controls practice and their score history, so it is not something they can casually switch back and forth. Get the class right at sign-up.
Let a learner try it before your school commits to anything
The free readiness test is five questions, needs no account, and scores by section rather than on a total. It is a fast way to show a class what the practice and the scoring actually look like.

Does my school need a special account to use K53 Coach?
No. Each learner registers their own individual account — there is no separate school login and no bulk sign-up. A school's involvement is pointing learners at the site and, if it wants one, sharing a discount code with them.
We teach car, motorcycle and heavy-vehicle learners. Will their practice get mixed up?
No. Each learner picks a licence class on their own account, and controls practice, the controls library and the mock paper follow that choice. Rules and road signs are the same pool for every class, which matches how the actual test is structured.
How do we get a discount code for our learners?
Email admin@k53coach.co.za with your school's name, address and a contact person. We will set up a code your learners enter at checkout — the discount comes off automatically.
Is there a dashboard where we can see how our whole class is doing?
Not currently. Each learner's progress, mock results and readiness score live on their own account. There is no shared classroom view across a school's learners today.
Are the practice questions the same as the official K53 test?
No — they are K53-style practice questions based on South African road rules and the official sign chart, not official exam questions. They are built to match the format and difficulty of the real test, which is set and administered by the testing centre alone.
Can a learner switch licence class after they've started?
Before they have paid and chosen a class, yes. Once a class is chosen on a paid account it is locked, so their controls practice and score history stay accurate to the vehicle they are actually testing on. Get the class right when they register.

- National Road Traffic Regulations, 2000 — regulation 104(2)(a)The examiner must be satisfied on (i) the rules of the road, (ii) the road traffic signs, and (iii) the controls of a motor vehicle of the class to which the application relates. Sub-paragraph (iii) is the reason only the controls section changes by licence class — the other two are identical for every applicant, which is why K53 Coach scopes controls practice by class and leaves rules and signs shared.
